All the beauty and attraction of swat valley is contingent on Swat River. The thriving beauty of Swat River makes the whole swat valley fascinating. Most of the eye catching areas of Swat are located on the bank of this river. Swat River is formed when Ushu and Gabrial River meet and form a junction. The river is situated in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the river is 150 kilometer in length. Swat River is joined by various attributes such as Daral, Chail, Arnowai, Barwai, Jambil, Mankial, Marghaza and Gahil streams.
The flow rate of Swat River is quite high. It irrigates about 160,000 acres of land. Melting snow and glaciers feed this river and it joins Panjkora River during its journey. The flow of Swat River also depends upon the temperature. If temperature is high, the river will flow with great speed because the melting of glaciers is speedy at that time. Two canals had been built on this river to provide the area with more water for irrigation. The climate of river side is pleasant and this river plays a great part in tourism of Pakistan. The river is visited by local as well as by tourists from foreign countries.
Another important thing about this river is that it is the centre of different fish species. Fishing is a hobby of the people there and people also do it as a profession. Two vital offshoots of Swat River are River Jindai and River Khialay. The fresh water of this river is also used by flora and fauna. Power projects have also been started to produce more electricity from Swat River. The beautiful natural scenes of this river are breath taking. Tourists love to visit this site and the most popular tourist attraction there is the Ayub Bridge.
