He catapulted to fame as a world class athletic footballer.
And he has since moved on to hone his skills as an actor in front of the camera.
But yesterday French star Eric Cantona looked a million miles away from his former images as he emerged in the public eye once more.

He was spotted enjoying a holiday with friends and family in Corsica as he lapped up the rays.
But he made a remarkable resemblance to a castaway and channelled the look of a typical seafarer in his get-up.
Cantona, 46, wore blue and white stripes - associated with sailing - and his face was almost completely covered up thanks to his oversized salt and pepper beard.

Captain? Eric looked like a true seafarer with his bearded look which almost disguised his distinctive look
He looked tanned and relaxed as he sat on a boat among the likes of his wife Rachida and their son Emir.
Cantona looked in the distance as he finished his look off with mismatching paisley shorts.
But the heat soon got too much for him as he then stripped off his top to reveal his paunch.

Looking at home on the vessel Eric could have passed for the captain.
But they later departed after he changed into another outfit and moved his bags on to the dry shore.
The former sportsman seems to have cut down his workload over recent years as he's barely signed up to any projects and largely kept a low profile.
And he certainly seems to be making the most of his current time off by enjoying his sunny holiday with close ones.
