Bun in the oven? See the worst baby shower cakes ever baked

By Daily Mail Reporter

Baby showers are supposed to be a sweet way to celebrate the pending birth of a child, with homely gifts and fluffy toys.

But if these cakes are anything to go by, the usually sweet tea-parties appear to be morphing into a cringe-worthy equivalent of the synonymous hens night.

Headless pregnant torsos, graphic birth scenes and newborns that resemble stillbirths are just a few cakes that have taken center stage at baby showers.

I'm coming out: A headless baby matches the headless mother on this awkward baby shower cake

The awkward cakes, compiled by Cake Wrecks, were emailed into the website by offended baby shower attendees, or those with a strange sense of humour.
The website describes a cake wreck as being anything that is 'unintentionally sad, silly, creepy or inappropriate' - categories the all these baked goods easily fit into.

Peek-a-boo: These cringe-worthy birthing cakes are awkwardly pushy and R-rated

It is possible that a few of the R-rated cakes may have been made by a chuckling, sarcastic baker.

However some of the tasteless cakes are so disturbing that baby shower goers could find themselves a little queasy as they cut a slice.

Star-light surprise: This cake illustrates maternity wear gone wrong with a Cabbage Patch doll look-a-like baby

Whether it is a 'baby's coming out' cake, one where a limb-less pregnant torso appears to be wearing a hospital gown, or the too-realistic fetus cake, most of these cake wrecks are downright disgusting.

As the iVillage put it: 'These cakes may have been labors of love, but we question why they were ever born, errr, baked.'
