A brother and sister have been arrested for burgling a family friend's home after using Facebook to find out whether or not her house was empty.
Kimberly Edgerton, 29, and Michael Edgerton, 27, allegedly broke into their life-long friend Nicole Mineo's home after chatting with her on Facebook and asking if her her family were out.
Miss Mineo said Miss Edgerton had started instant messaging her about the whereabouts of her parents and her brother, hours later the house had been ransacked.

'She was IMing me, asking me how I was doing, what my mom was doing... and then she started asking me weird questions about my brother being home,' Miss Mineo, a teacher's aide, told NBC New York.


Several hours later, the 25-year-old's mother told her that someone had broken into the house in Park Ridge, New Jersey through the back door and stolen jewelry and laptop computers.

'I knew right away who it was because then it all started to fit together, why she was IMing me, why she was asking about my whereabouts,' Mineo told NBC New York.
The Mineo's reported their suspicions to the police and officers went to the Edgerton's house where they found some of the stolen property on the front lawn and other items within the home.
'We were able to recover pertinent information and evidence from the scene, which actually linked directly to the scene of the burglary,' Sgt. James Babcock of Park Ridge Police told NBC New York.

Mr Edgerton was charged him with burglary and possession of marijuana, while his sister was charged with receiving stolen property and hindering apprehension.
Miss Mineo warned others about sharing information on the social networking site.
'Never share any information on Facebook because people we trusted came and vandalized our house, and it all began with Facebook that day.' she told NBC New York.
