| A British man is under police guard in hospital in Peru after his pregnant girlfriend died in a mystery fall at their home. The 33-year-old financial trader was said to be in a coma after plunging from the third-floor flat they shared in an upmarket neighbourhood in the capital Lima. He was last night named locally as Owen Arthur Goddard. He is reported to be the nephew of a former Peruvian government minister whose brother is a recently-retired Cambridge University lecturer.
