L'attore si prepara al nuovo ruolo
Mickey Rourke ha cominciato i preparativi per il suo prossimo ruolo, quello di un gay stella del rugby, seguendo in tribuna una partita di palla ovale a 13 in uno stadio di Cardiff, in Galles. L'attore americano, 58 anni, impersonerà Gareth Thomas: è considerato il più celebre giocatore della storia del rugby gallese ed il più noto atleta dichiaratamente omosessuale di uno sport di squadra.

Legendary actor, retired boxer and notorious Hollywood bad boy, Mickey Rourke first became a household name in the 1980s after starring in Diner, The Pope of Greenwich Village and 9 ½ Weeks. After early success in drama, action and thriller films, Rourke took a break from the spotlight and returned in the late 1990s to star in box office hits like The Rainmaker and Get Carter.
Did we mention that Rourke is a bad boy? After hitting a rough patch in his life, Rourke turned to alcohol and boxing to get through his days. And, it’s no surprise then that, after getting knocked around the ring and then boozed up, Rourke looked pretty rough. At 62 years old, the actor and retired boxer opted for the true Beverly Hills fix: plastic surgery. From hair extensions and skin tightening to cheekbone and nose reconstruction, Rourke’s new look revived his career and even earned him an Oscar nominated role in The Wrestler.

Mickey Rourke: Nato a Schenectady, nello stato di New York, è popolare nel mondo del cinema come attore e sceneggiatore, ma i primi passi li ha mossi sul ring, come pugile.
Appesi a malincuore i guantoni, ha imboccato la strada della recitazione, formandosi alla stessa scuola di Al Pacino e De Niro. Salito alla ribalta con il celebre film 9 settimane e ½, accanto a Kim Basinger, ha offerto grandi interpretazioni in "L'anno del dragone" e "Angel Heart".
La vita di eccessi ne ha segnato la carriera, con un lungo periodo di silenzio interrotto nel 2008 con il successo di The Wrestler, grazie al quale ha conquistato il Leone d'Oro al 65º Festival di Venezia e un Golden Globe.
Presente nel 2010 in "Iron Man 2" e nel primo capitolo de I Mercenari, nel 2014 compare nel cast di "Una donna per cui uccidere" sequel del thriller Sin City.
